Currencies

There are three primary currencies that we're aware of: gold, house tokens, and moonstone. Here is a list of how best to gain each.

Gold

The most common place to find gold will be inside of chests--especially at the beginning of the game. While most chests give you somewhere in the area of 30 gold, the eyeball chests can give as much as 500. Additionally, as the main character picks up items around the world, those items can be sold to vendors.

The side quest "Hunted Hogsmeade" allows users to clear out a shop in Hogsmeade called Stitches and Draughts. Doing so will allow the user to gain the shop and then sell items at a higher rate than manually visiting vendors. This side quest is a one-year Playstation exclusive that will unlock for all players exactly one year from the launch date on February 10th, 2024.

Moonstone

This currency is used in the Room of Requirement in order to build the plopable spellcrafts. A list of all the spellcrafts you can purchase or find can be found on the "spellcraft" page of this blog. In addition, the Room of Requirement has a "conjuration budget", which is not moonstone based but rather shows how much RAM on your computer can be used to fit all these things into such a tight space.

Moonstone can be created in the Room of Requirement, but can also be found out in the open world in the following places:

  • Hogsmeade, on the path between Hogwarts and Hogsmeade just prior to the trivia if you're walking toward Hogsmeade
  • Keenbridge, on the east side of the bridge, left-hand side of the path as you climb the hill
  • Hogwarts, two sets of x3 heading up the path to the owlry
  • Opwn World, one set of x7 walking due south from Nora Treadwell's camp, under ledge by water

House Tokens

Technically, this is one of the puzzles that happens to be solved using a currency. The "Daedalian Keys" side quest given to you by Nellie Oggspire allows you to open the house chest in your dorm. To do so, you must find each Daedalian key, follow it to it's lock, and unlock the house token that is inside. In total, users need 16 house tokens. The following is a list of all known key/lock combos, numbered in no particular order:

  1. [ALWAYS FIRST] Astronomy Tower, key near observation deck, lock in Astronomy classroom
  2. Viaduct Entry, key above head on enter from viaduct, lock down first stairs, turn right to face wall
  3. Grand Staircase, key at top of stairs, lock at hourglass landing of same stairway
  4. Great Hall, key by Slytherin fireplace, lock on other side of dining room at top of stairs
  5. DADA Tower, key by rhino skeleton, lock one flight up by tea party
  6. Library
  7. Entryway
  8. Faculty Tower 1
  9. Faculty Tower 2
